What is Rhythm & Flow?

Dance-inspired yoga

A style of vinyasa yoga practice that seamlessly blends traditional yoga poses with playful variations and graceful transitions, all set to the rhythm of a modern playlist.

Practicing yoga to music is not a new concept, as the steady beat of music helps to guide breath and movement and enhances an already expressive form of movement practice. With Rhythm & Flow yoga, there is as much focus on the transitions between poses, than just the poses alone. Not only a strengthening practice, but a fun one that also helps to improve mobility and coordination.

What to Expect in a Class

A Rhythm & Flow class takes a typical vinyasa class format.

Starting with a few moments at the beginning to settle, centre and breathe to music. Followed by gentle warm ups, some timed to music as a light introduction as we prepare the body for a class full of dynamic movement.

We then learn a flow in a series of short sequences- breaking down the poses and transitions, and practising in time to music. The final flow is then stitched together to practice to a full song without interruptions.

With time left in the class, we may focus on trying new movements, or strengthening and deepening select poses.

Finally, we slow down to end the class with a well-earned savasana.
